A pair of Blue Willow, oval serving platters in over a 12-inch size. For those of us who are blue-and-white or transferware aficionados, these showcase the beauty of deep blue in an intricate chinoiserie design. The classic Willow pattern depicts a traditional Chinese scene that is widely recognized and includes a weeping willow tree, a pagoda, three figures on a bridge, a figure on a boat, and two flying birds. Besides their utility, you can use these decorative pieces for display or as part of a tasteful gallery with other ceramics or wall art. This set was made between 1921 and 1941, when these pieces were marked “Japan.” Sizes: 12.75″w x 9″d x 1-1/8″h and 12-7/8″w x 9.25″d x 1-1/8″h. I have chosen the two best ones from the collection, with no chips or cracks. No two pieces are identical since handwork is involved in the transferware process.
