1970s Henredon White Lacquered Cabinet Bookcase

In collaboration with artist Catherine Freshley, we present this refreshed Henredon bookcase! This one-of-a-kind bookcase includes a gorgeous signed canvas print of Catherine’s original painting, October Over Chehalem!

Catherine Freshley is a local Portland artist, with a large loyal following across the country. Her art is large, bold, bright and often reflects the gorgeous landscapes of Oregon and her other travel destinations. We are both drawn to color, so it was a great match! I approached Catherine in the spring about a collaboration and she was immediately on board.

The entire cabinet has generous space for display items and storage. I could see it in an office, living/dining space, closet, etc. This piece has two new tempered glass shelves with the original brass stays. There are two cabinet doors adorned with stunning original brass pulls and hinges. There is one shelf for the interior cabinet.

FINISH:
This finish is in our water-based 2k high gloss lacquer. Our application includes 8-10 layers of primer, color and top coat, all with an added catalyst at each step to enhance durability. Then a final 4-step buffing process. The color is Oxford White 869, by Benjamin Moore.

CONDITION:
Henredon pieces are great quality. All solid wood construction with unique dramatic brass hardware. This piece is actually two pieces for ease of moving. We’ve added generous felt padding underneath the bookshelf topper in case anyone wants to use them in a different configuration. This piece is fully refurbished and in excellent condition.

CARE:
The finish will endure for many more generations with proper care. Like with any newly constructed product, use coasters and protective feet under any items you place on top of the finish. We recommend dusting often and using a very mild soap and soft sponge for any necessary spills. Do not use any cleansers with ammonia or other harsh chemicals, it will destroy the gloss finish.
